Burnham: Speak up with words
Placeholder Image

You may think you have nothing to offer.

You may buy into the lie that says, "Leave it alone, it’s none of your business!"

Now, I’m not talking about your opinion or traditions; I’m saying sometimes you need to step up and speak up into someone’s life.

Proverbs tells us we have something to offer if we offer it from the heart and in accordance with God’s word: Words of help and relief (12:18,25), words that help people find fulfillment in life (11:14), words help people plan correctly (15:22; 20:18) and words that help people see things from God’s perspective.

Sharing must be done from a pure heart, with proper timing and tact as well as the sense of trust and attention to detail.

We don’t just share because we "can," but we share because we should. We have a personal responsibility to get involved when needed and lovingly bring wise words to bear.

"A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver." (Proverbs 25:11)
