McCart: Whiskey Bent back in Covington
Placeholder Image

Greetings! So glad y'all enjoyed the last edition and I appreciate the feedback about the album review I did of the Apostles of Bluegrass. Any musicians out there that have new albums, EPs, or singles, let me know about it. Lots of good stuff this week, so let's dig in.

Whiskey Bent at Amici, Covington, Friday June 24, 8 p.m.

Marc and Fluff will be back at their C-town musical home base this Friday and it's always a big time when they play. Look for their usual great mix of rock, country, and soul covers. As I understand it, they've really been reworking and expanding their set list, so you'll most likely be hearing some new tunes from them even if you've seen them before. These guys usually bring in a strong crowd, so you'll probably see a lot of familiar faces. It should be a great night.

"Whodunit" Dinner Theater at the Speakeasy, Porterdale, Friday June 24.

It's another installment of Dinner Theater down in the mill village. Kevin and Shant'e Ragin just keep raising the bar with the performances they produce with The Speakeasy Dinner Club. They've got some serious actors involved and they work with good scripts and storylines. As I hear it, this is easily some of the best entertainment you'll likely find in Newton Co. You can look up @speakeasydinnerclub on Facebook, or call 678-712-6548 to get more info.

Whisper Whitlock live at The Social House, Porderdale, Saturday, June 25, 9 p.m.

The word on the street is that this lady is the absolute truth. I'm told by two different folks that she just inked a record deal, too. Based out of Jackson, she's hasn't really played much around the C-town area, but she's changing that now. The crew at the Social House seem very excited about this show, and it looks to be a good one. This girl is sure 'nuff real-deal country and has done several CMAfest music showcases and lots of shows up in Nashville. This should be a heck of a night.
Taylor Marie, Live at The Mystic Grill, Saturday, June 25, 7 p.m.

Taylor, as we've mentioned before, is a superb country singer-songwriter with a rock and roll edge. With a great voice and song list, she once again brings her talents to the rooftop of the Mystic which really is a great venue to catch a show. Taylor has been busy gigging around C-town, Monroe, Madison and points in between. She's really been getting her sound out there. And as you may remember, she opened for Drivin N Cryin at Legion Park back in April.

Odds and ends

Picker's Circle at Cowboys BBQ, Saturday, June 25, 6 p.m.

UPANG live at Sycamore Street Pizzeria, Social Circle, Saturday, June 25, 8 p.m.
And live music at The Depot, Five O'Clock, and Porterdale Bar and Grill on most weekends.

Have a great week, and we'll see you next time.
