CONYERS, Ga. – Piedmont Rockdale Hospital’s Volunteer Auxiliary has named Earline Corbitt as the 2019 Volunteer of the Year. Corbitt joined the auxiliary in 2013. She works at the Building B Information Desk and is always helpful to staff and visitors alike.

Corbitt has been an auxiliary board member for several years, serving as Parliamentarian, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and now President Elect.  She assists with fundraising activities to benefit the auxiliary, attends state conferences as a representative of the Piedmont Rockdale Hospital Volunteer Auxiliary and serves on the scholarship and Volunteen program committees.

Corbitt retired from the New York State Department of Correctional Services in 2010 and moved to Georgia in 2012. Prior to moving from New York, Corbitt volunteered at the Albany International Airport as an Ambassador in their Military Courtesy Room supporting our troops. She served as a counselor for the Albany County Rape Crisis Hotline and with Court Appointed Special Advocate for Children.

Married for 37 years, Corbitt and her husband have four children and seven grandchildren. She has a passion for baking, in particular pound cakes, and collects cookbooks.

The Piedmont Rockdale Auxiliary plays a vital role in the success of the hospital. The group of more than 100 volunteers donates thousands of hours each year providing care to the community and raising funds to benefit the hospital through the purchase of equipment. Their fundraising projects include jewelry sales, scrub sales, and the annual Love Light Tree ceremony each December.
