COVINGTON, Ga. – Dr. Eric Bour, MD, MBA has been named CEO of Piedmont Newton Hospital, effective mid- August. He replaces Jim Weadick, who retired June 30.

Dr. Bour comes to Piedmont Newton from Greenville Health System, where he has served as president of Hillcrest Memorial Hospital and Simpsonville Medical Campus since 2011.

According to a press release from Piedmont Hospital spokesperson Amanda Bartlett, under Dr. Bour’s leadership, Hillcrest Memorial Hospital saw a 90 percent reduction in the number of patients leaving without being seen in the emergency department, an 80 percent on-time start rate in the operating room and a 40 percent improvement in patient satisfaction scores.

Dr. Bour is a general and bariatric surgeon who has practiced for nearly 30 years in Pennsylvania and South Carolina.
