Georgia Ophthalmologists announces expansion of advanced vision services

COVINGTON, Ga. - Covington ophthalmologist Dr. Jose Bigles-Geigel has announced he will be adding Lasik to his clinic’s already extensive program of advanced vision services. Georgia Ophthalmologists has acquired Blue Laser Group’s Athens Lasik practice effective Jan. 1, 2019. The Lasik program will be renamed Bigles Laser Vision.

“Since 2011, we at Georgia Ophthalmologists have focused on providing our patients with the most advanced technology available to deliver superior surgical outcomes,” Bigles said. “The addition of Lasik services now completes our roadmap of comprehensive vision care; we now have the tools to care for our patient’s vision needs for their entire life, making sure that his or her vision of life will always clear and complete.”

Born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and raised in Georgia, Bigles completed his undergraduate education at Georgia State University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in biological science. He graduated from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 2002, and completed his medical training in ophthalmology at the renowned Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York, where he served as chief resident. Bigles is a fellowship-trained refractive surgeon who, through his work, has perfected the blade-free Lasik Technique.

In 2009, Bigles arrived in Covington, Georgia, where he treated a wide variety of ophthalmic disorders, and worked to restore vision through cataract and Lasik correction. He is a board-certified member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS). In 2011, Bigles fulfilled a life-long goal of opening his own practice and introduced Georgia Ophthalmologists to the Atlanta community.

Bigles is fluent in both Spanish and English, and has held several leadership positions in the Covington community. He promotes several community health initiatives, participating in local health fairs offering complimentary vision screenings.

Outside of the office, Bigles enjoys spending time with his wife and four children and is an avid baseball fan. He and his family are active in community Little League, and have sponsored both local baseball and soccer organizations. His hobbies also include tennis, softball and any activity where he can spend time with his family.
