John and Donna Sessums of Covington announce the engagement of their daughter Ashley Shearer to Jarred Cheek, son of Dennis and Susan Cheek of Covington.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Dennis Shearer and granddaughter of Maurice Shearer of Snellville and the late John Shearer and Yvonne Shores and the late Walter Shores. She is a graduate of Georgia College & State University with a Bachelor of Science in nursing and is employed at the Medical Center of Central Georgia as a RN.

The groom elect is the grandson of Jimmy and Berthalene Payne. He is a graduate of Athens Technical College in automotive collision repair and is employed at Ginn Motor Company as an automotive refinish technician.

The wedding is planned for Oct. 15 at Gaither Plantation.
