Daughter celebrates father's 100-year-old diploma

COVINGTON, Ga. - Mrs. Polly Veal Harvey holds the high school diploma belonging to her late father, Mr. Everett Anderson Veal, who graduated from Livingston High School 100 years ago on May 4, 1917. He and Mr. Lovic Hull were the only graduates that year. The diploma is signed by Ms. Agnes Duffey, principal; Mr. G.C. Adams, superintendent; and Mr. H. H. Stone, president of the board of education. The original school burned man years ago and the present school (Livingston Elementary School) was rebuilt in the same location. Mr. Veal was a farmer/dairyman and a life-long resident of Newton County.
