COVINGTON, Ga. — Thousands of merry people descended upon downtown Covington on Saturday morning, Dec. 7, for the city's biggest Christmas parade in memory.

With more than 100 entries and 2,500 participants representing all aspects of the community, the parade lasted nearly two hours as it came through town and around the square spreading holiday cheer to huge crowds lining the downtown streets. Participants from local civic groups, churches, law enforcement agencies, businesses, schools and various other organizations rode elaborate floats and bedazzled vehicles while the three local high school bands kept the beat going.

The event was sponsored by the Covington Lions Club and Mainstreet Covington.
