The film community in the metro Atlanta area has been busy this summer. Not only have production teams for “The Originals,” “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Walking Dead,” and other series been shooting scenes for the upcoming fall season, the recently relocated “Sleepy Hollow” production team and cast have been shooting scenes in and around Conyers and Rockdale County.

But television series aren’t the only productions in the works here this summer. Casting and crew calls have gone out this summer to work on two HBO projects and three feature films.

Last week, “The Originals” shot scenes in Conyers. Roles cast for the WB series included a murder victim, New Orleans’s locals, tourists/travelers, and cops and detectives.

A large battle is coming to Conyers next week as producers look for extras to play soldiers for the Fox series, “Sleepy Hollow.” Caucasian males with long hair, 18 and older, will be on the front line. Must be clean shaven. Caucasian males with shorter hair are being sought for roles as British soldiers. The soldiers will be wigged. The costumes for both American and British soldiers can accommodate sizes no larger than 44, and cannot fit anyone over 6 feet tall. If interested, email mhc.sleepy@gmail.com, with either “American Soldier” or “British Soldier” in the subject line. Include name, phone number, email address, age, height, weight, chest/jacket size, waist/inseam and shoe size, plus current city of residence. Include three photos. Julia Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Kate Hudson will be coming to the Atlanta area soon to film “Mother’s Day,” a holiday feature film from Garry Marshall. The film focuses on the lives of several mothers as the holiday nears. Casting directors are casting stand-ins, extras and featured roles for upcoming scenes filmed in Georgia. There is also a call for a two-year-old child, identical twins preferred, of Middle Eastern Descent. Athletes, male and female, are also being sought for extra roles, including a couple of female soccer players, 18 years and older who look like high school kids and know how to play soccer; male and female tennis players, 18 to 30-years-old; male joggers over 80-years-old; cemetery patrons, 30 to 40 years old; boys, age 9 to 11; and children, ages 5 through 12. Shooting will begin mid-August and into September. To learn more, visit New Life Casting’s web site at https://www.newlifecasting.com/.

Filming on HBO’s “Confirmation,” the story of the 1991 Clarence Thomas-Anita Hill Supreme Court nomination hearings, wound up this week. The film, starring Kerry Washington, filmed in and around the metro Atlanta area this summer and will be shown sometime in 2016.

“Sleepless Nights,” a film about a seemingly corrupt Las Vegas cop racing to save his child’s life after the boy is kidnapped by gangsters. The film stars Jamie Foxx in the lead role, with Dermot Mulroney, Michelle Monaghan, T.I. and Gabrielle Union.

On Sunday, Aug. 2, Jennifer Gardner was at the Georgia Aquarium in downtown Atlanta filming scenes for the upcoming movie, Miracles from Heaven. In late July, the actress and crew filmed scenes at Rockdale County Medical Center. The film is based on story about Christy Beam’s daughter, who after falling three stories, visited heaven and was cured of a rare disorder. The movie is being produced by T. D. Jakes and Joe Roth, who produced Heaven Is for Real, and DeVon Franklin, preacher and former Sony executive.

Filming on the feature continues in the metro area, with extras being sought for a church scene on Aug. 6 and 7, and in Decatur on Aug. 10 .

Season 6 of AMC’s “The Walking Dead” has begun shooting in the metro area, and child actors, extras and trained stand-ins for several scenes are being sought. For more information, visit Project Casting at http://www.projectcasting.com/.
