I have never been paddling because, to tell the truth, the idea never really appealed to me. I have seen too many episodes of “Swamp People” to feel comfortable on a tiny little canoe in the middle of a lake. However, I might make an exception for the twilight paddle happening at Hard Labor Creek State Park. The idea that I might be eaten by a gator or a giant snake pales in comparison to the idea of watching the twilight descend over a beautiful lake, and the absolute quiet I imagine comes with it. Just the thought of it is good for the soul, and after all the busy weeks we all lead, isn’t it nice to become one with nature? As long as nature isn’t hungry, of course.
