More than 200 attendees came out to the Keep Covington/Newton Beautiful’s Third Annual Green Getaway fundraiser Friday night at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center.

The Green Getaway raises funds to benefit educational and beautification projects around the county. The evening began with a silent auction and pre-party entertainment by the group Sweet Harmony. The theme for this year’s event was "Green Rocks" and the evening was centered around all things Elvis related, including musical entertainment by Elvis impersonator Mark Eskew and The Heartbreak Band.

A dinner featuring Elvis’ favorite – mouth-watering Memphis style ribs – was served to guests complete with all the fixings. The live auction was an exciting part of the event raising $4,675. Executive Director for Keep Covington/Newton Beautiful Connie Waller commented, "Despite the fact that it rained cats and dogs tonight, everybody is having a great time and have come out to support a great cause. Everyone loves Elvis and we are just excited that the community has come out to support us."
