Springfield Baptist Church presented the Washington Street Community Center with a $25,000 check Thursday.
The funds were raised from the church’s membership, and will go toward helping the center deliver its programs to the approximately 80 children it serves. The center also is in the need for roof and HVAC repairs, along with a room for its computer lab.
“On behalf of the board, the staff, Bea Jackson and the children, we really appreciate this gift,” said Dr. Melvin Baker, board president. “It’s sorely needed.”
Rev. Eric Lee and several board members presented the check to Baker and Washington Street Community Center board members at the center.
“On behalf of the board of directors at Springfield Baptist Church, and on behalf of our membership, it’s a privilege to be in the position to present you with the $25,000 check.”
