COVINGTON, Ga. - Main Street Covington announced the winners of the first-ever Scarecrow Contest and Showcase Tuesday on the Covington square. 

In the non-business category, the Montessori School of Covington took home the first place prize, with Newton County 4-H and the Rotary Club of Covington taking second and third respectively. Each non-business winner will receive a cash prize.

In the business category, Southern Roots Outfitters claimed the top spot, with WildArt, LLC taking second and Town Square Olive Oil taking third. Each business winner will receive advertising prizes from The Covington News and Alcovy Media. The first place winner will also receive an advertising prize from the Newton Citizen.
