Greetings Covington and welcome back to another installment of The Minute. And just right quick, I wanted to take a moment to thank so many of you who took the time to tell me how much you enjoyed my music Thanksgiving list in the last edition. I appreciate that and am glad that so many of you enjoyed it. Another big week of music around these parts, let's grab a plate and dig in!
Gold Dust Band to perform at American Legion - Post 77 at 674 Legion Road, in Conyers Thursday, Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.
Bear Adams and the gang have been entertaining folks all over our neck of the woods for quite some time. These guys play a mix of Classic Country - think Conway, Merle & George - and Classic Rock, with some Golden Oldies of the 50's and 60's thrown in as well. Bear plays bass, David Welch plays guitar, Geoff Spence hits the keys and plays some harmonica, and Greg Epling bangs the drums. All four members sing. By all accounts these Legion shows that they've been playing have become quite the event. The crowds are always large, there is no cover charge and it is open to the public. This sounds like a lot of fun!
Pickin' and a Grinnin' with the Where There's Smoke Pickers will play at Where There's Smoke BBQ in Mansfield on Friday, Dec. 9 at 7p.m.
It's going to be a fine night down in Mansfield with some good bar-be-que, good music and good friends. This crew is comprised of Leon Walton and his wife Sarae, along with Steve Biggers, my Father-in-law, as well as Ron Garrett on the bass and John Rice on the lead guitar. These guys play pretty much every Friday and always put on a great show with lots of Ole-Timey Gospel and Country.
Chris, Jon and Scott to perform at Amici Friday, Dec. 9 at 8 p.m.
It really doesn't get much better than this, folks. This is quite easily one of the greatest groups in Newton County at one of the coolest places. It is always a great time and a big crowd on College Avenue when these guys bring their talents.
Leighlynn Shine at The Speakeasy in Porterdale on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 9:30 p.m.
Another one of the best groups we've got here in the home county, Brittany and Cindy and the rest of the gang always put on a great show and they seem to always shine bright when they're playing at this super cool spot, which is basically like their musical home. They will also be participating in the Porterdale Christmas celebration earlier in the evening at the Historic Gymnasium.
Jacob Brian to perform at The Social House on Saturday, Dec.10 at 9 p.m.
This North Georgia Mountain boy has been making a name for himself all over the state of Georgia with his Country sounds.
Ron Kimble at Lucy's Wings & Things in Newborn Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
