COVINGTON, Ga. - Right at Home, an in-home care service for seniors, is offering four local families the opportunity to provide in-home care this holiday season on scholarship.
Owner Mark Ross said there are plenty of seniors who can use an extra hand, but do not have the financial wherewithal to pay for it, so he decided to give back to the community. He and his in-home care business are searching for seniors in the area who are in need of a little extra help this holiday season.
Ross plans on awarding four scholarships providing a senior with extensive home care and a needed companion during the winter months.
To apply for the scholarship, submit a short paragraph nomination or application explaining why you could benefit from the services. That paragraph should be emailed to rightcare@raheastatl.com or delivered to the Right at Home office, located right off the square in Newton Plaza.
The application deadline is 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8 at Ross said.
Ross said it was the first time his company has offered a scholarship like this.
“This was an idea that was kind of the brainchild of our community outreach liaison, of how we can help,” he said. “This gives us the opportunity to try to fill in the gaps.”
In-home care has evolved, and it isn't just strict nursing like bathing and dressing seniors, but much of it is companionship, including taking walks together, baking, buying groceries, and sharing stories. Right at Home offers bonded and insured care givers that can provide light housekeeping, in-home assistance and transportation.
