COVINGTON, Ga. – Piedmont Newton Hospital has received an “A” grade for its commitment to patient safety, according to the spring 2017 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. Piedmont Newton is one of 823 hospitals nationwide to earn top marks.
“Our goal at Piedmont Newton is to deliver high-quality patient care in the safest environment,” Jim Weadick, CEO of Piedmont Newton, said. “We’re proud to once again achieve this top Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, as it shows our continued commitment to providing safe and high-quality care for our patients.”
The Hospital Safety Grade is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts. Administered by The Leapfrog Group, a nonprofit organization committed to driving quality, safety and transparency in the U.S. health care system, the Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year.
“Hospitals that earn top marks nationally in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, have achieved the highest safety standards in the country,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “That takes commitment from every member of the hospital staff, who all deserve thanks and congratulations when their hospitals achieve an ‘A’ Safety Grade.”
