Mrs. Linda C. Hart of Social Circle announces the engagement of her daughter Karen Lea Hart of Covington to Daniel Ray Herrin of Waverly, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Herrin.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Mr. Calvin Hart Jr. and granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leason C. Hart of Social Circle, Mrs. Annie C. Crook of Washington and the late Mr. Gordon Combs of Washington. She is a graduate of Newton High School and holds a Bachelor of Science in health from Columbus State University and a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Auburn University. She is employed as a registered nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Units at Newton Medical Center and Atlanta Medical Center.

The future groom is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed Herrin of Waycross and the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Kirby of Chattanooga, Tenn. He is a graduate of North Gwinnett High School, Suwanee, and the Southeast Georgia Police Academy, Savannah, and pursued a degree in criminal justice from the College of Coastal Georgia. He is employed as the Director of Safety at the Rauly Corporation.

The couple will wed Oct. 30 at Jekyll Island. After honeymooning in the Hawaiian Islands, the couple will reside in Florida.
