Mrs. Edna F. Johnson, a life-long resident of Covington and Newton County, celebrated her 100th birthday with a party attended by family and friends at the Macedonia Baptist Church on May 23. Family from Pennsylvania, Maryland, Mississippi and Ohio were on hand for the occasion. Mrs. Johnson was born in Newton County in 1909 to Mr. Johnny "Pa" Gaither and Odessa Gaither. An array of children, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were in attendance to make this a festive and memorable occasion.
