COVINGTON, Ga. - "In the Heat of the Night" is turning 30 years old and a group of fans is organizing an anniversary celebration to support a local nonprofit.
Sparta Revisited: "In the Heat of the Night" 30th-Anniversary Reunion 2018 is a two-day fundraising event scheduled for Aug. 3-4 at Porter Performing Arts Center in Covington.
"In the Heat of the Night" main cast members Alan Autry, Denise Nicholas and Anne-Marie Johnson will reunite in Covington for the first time in more than 24 years to commemorate this historic event, Wes Bryant, media relations for Sparta Revisited 2018, said in a news release.
Since the ending of "In the Heat of the Night's" production in 1994, Alan Autry went on to serve two terms as mayor of Fresno, California and currently produces faith-based films; Denise Nicholas has since written and released her first novel "Fresh Water Road"; Anne-Marie Johnson currently stars in two recurring roles on television: ABC's "For the People" and Bravo Network's "Imposters."
A screening of Alan Autry's latest film, "Victory By Submission" will kick-off the event weekend on Aug. 3. Only those who purchased a ticket to Saturday night's 30th-Anniversary Show will be given admittance to the free screening.
Proceeds
from this event will benefit local non-profit Action Ministries, Bryant said.
