COVINGTON, Ga. – An estimated 4,000 Newton Countians, young and old, flocked to Legion Field Saturday to enjoy a beautiful spring day and the first ever Newton County Family Fun Day.
The folks who came out enjoyed live music and lunch on free hot dogs as they visited various displays set up around the field.
There were games and bounce houses just for kids and a climbing wall and rides in a City of Covington bucket truck for kids of all ages.
People also got to talk to firefighters from Newton County, tour a county fire truck, meet cops and check out police cars from the City of Covington, Oxford, Porterdale, Social Circle and the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
Every law enforcement agency in Newton County was represented along with the Newton County District Attorney’s Office.
There were also hourly prize giveaways. The event ran from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
