COVINGTON, Ga. – Resident’s that enjoyed the Food and Fun events at Legion Field in 2017 will be excited to learn the functions will return with an added feature for 2018. Attendees will now be able to enjoy a feature film under the stars at the conclusion of the food truck portion of the evening.
Starting in May and free of charge, the events will be held at 5:30 p.m. on the third Friday of each month, culminating in October. Each evening will feature a variety of food trucks, inflatable toys for kids, a feature film and KISS 104.1’s Art Terrell will fill the park with music, serving as DJ.
The City of Covington, Covington/Newton Chamber of Commerce, the Newton County Recreation Commission and Nesbitt Managing and Consulting Services have pooled resources to make this event possible. Participants are urged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the greenspace at Legion Field.
The following movies will be featured:
- May 18: “The Goonies”
- June 15: “The Sandlot”
- July 20: “The Karate Kid”
- August 17: “E.T.”
- September 21: “Remember the Titans”
- October 19: “Hocus Pocus”
“As a committee, we tried to come up with a list of movies that would give parents the opportunity to enjoy a memory from their childhood and share it with their kids,” City of Covington Public Relations Manager Trey Sanders said. “Hopefully the selection of movies this year accomplishes that.”
Event organizers were pleased with the participation last year and hope the addition of movies will offer another dynamic that provides event-goers with a full evening of entertainment.
