The Newton County Agricultural Center Capital Campaign is underway after a kickoff campaign dinner Nov. 15.
Funds raised in the campaign will be used to purchase furnishings and equipment for the Agricultural Center. Funds have been raised to construct the Newton County Agricultural Center at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center. The funds were raised through the 2011 Newton County Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), the State of Georgia, the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center and One Georgia.
The center will be located on 40 acres of land as multiple buildings connected by covered breezeways. The facility will include a climate controlled indoor area, a covered open-air outdoor arena and a barn for stalls.
The vision for the center is to have a multi-purpose facility large enough to host all types of agricultural education livestock events, such as livestock shows for swine, sheep, goats, cattle and equine. The facility will also host educational workshops and civic club activities.
The center will be home for the livestock teams for the four Newton County FFA chapters and the Newton County 4-H club.
Charles Berry heads the capital campaign committee, which is made up of 15 members.
All campaign contributions will be recognized with an invitation to the dedication ceremony, name in the dedication publication and on the Agricultural Center Wall of Honor. Higher levels of contributions offer expanded recognition in the program.
All donations are tax deductible, as the Georgia FFA Foundation is a not-for-profit 501c organization.
