Waymon Lee Stapp Sr., 57, of Covington, died Feb. 24. A lifelong resident of Newton County, he was a self-employed carpenter for over 40 years and a man who enjoyed life's simple pleasures. Mr. Stapp enjoyed fishing, watching wrestling, yard

work and playing baseball with children. He is preceded in death by daughter Melissa Ann Stapp, mother Agnes Johnson Stapp and brothers Erwin George Stapp and Willie Stapp.

Surviving are sons Waymon Stapp Jr. and Timothy Lee Stapp, both of Covington; sisters and brothers- in-law Kathleen and Billy Hooper of Social Circle, Marie and Danny Simmons of Monticello; brothers and sisters-in-law Jessie Stapp, Johnny and Wanda Stapp, all of Covington, Darlene Stapp of Mansfield; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 27, in the Floyd Street chapel of Caldwell & Cowan. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. Flowers are accepted or a love offering may be made to the family.
