Ulysee Norman Sr.

Deacon Ulysee Norman Sr. died Aug. 30. The son of the late Mr. Marshall Norman Sr. and Mrs. Ella Mae Logan, he was born in 1934 in Newton County. He was preceded in death by brothers Mr. Rosezell Norman, Mr. Eugene Norman and Mr. Robert Norman. Mr. Norman joined Bethel Bara Missionary Baptist church at an early age and was ordained as a deacon in 1960. He was also a Mason in Friendship Lodge No. 20. Mr. Norman was a devoted husband and father.

Surviving are wife of 53 years Mrs. Mary Louise Norman; sons and daughters Mr. Ulysee Norman Jr., Mr. Willie Gene Norman, the Rev. Alton Randolph (Sarah) Norman, Mr. James Edward Norman, Min. Teresa (Solomon) Lemons, the Rev. Anthony Wayne (Wanda) Norman, Ms. Brenda Norman; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters Deacon Marshall (Adell) Norman Jr., Deacon Willie James (Lillie) Norman, Mr. Bobby (Bertha) Norman, the Rev. Walter Norman, Deacon Larry (Hildred) Norman, Ms. Mary Thelma Pressley, Ms. Hazel Brown, Ms. Sarah Norman, Mrs. Betty (Bruce) Smith; sisters-in-law Virginia Norman, Annie Sue Norman, Cora Norman; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Sept. 4 at Bethel Bara Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Jones officiating. Interment followed at Bethel Bara Missionary church Cemetery.
