The Newton American Pee Wee All Stars clinched the district championship on June 19 with an 11-2 win over the host Monroe County squad.

Overall, Newton recorded 15 hits compared to just two.

Talon Anglin led the charge by going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored. Jacob Spivey went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and one run.

Zach Lister and Ayden Middlebrooks each had two hits apiece.

Previously, Newton American overcame a 4-1 first inning deficit to outlast the Newton Southern All Stars, 5-4.

Coached by John Anglin, Tony Middlebrooks and Mark Kirkpatrick, the Newton American Pee Wee All Stars also include Parker Kauffman, Cole Green, Carter Kirkpatrick, Bailey Thompson, Zach Kinnon, T.J. Wilson, Bernard Gilbert and Buck Sullivan.

They will next compete in the state tournament beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday in Monticello.
