Mrs. Ruby Elizabeth Smith died March 20. The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James (Martha) Jackson, she was born in Walton County in 1942. She attended school and joined Fellowship Baptist Church at an early age. Mrs. Smith worked at Monroe Mill and in housekeeping and as a cook at many restaurants. Her second family was the Edmondsons of Pot Luck Café where she worked for over 20 years. She was also known as the neighborhood mom. Her loving smile and personality will be deeply missed.

Surviving are father Mr. James Jackson Sr.; mother Mrs. Martha Jackson; sons Mr. Kenny Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Darrrell (Iris) Smith; stepson Mr. Jarnard (Shay) Gunn; daughters Ms. Emma Smith, Ms. Mary Smith (Ricky), Mrs. Jackie Arnold; brothers Mr. James Jackson Jr., Mr. Thomas Jackson Sr.; grandchildren Nikki (Yolanda) Smith, Kenny (Chaundra) Smith, Chris (Tonya) Smith, Tydric Arnold, Shundra Smith, Darius Arnold, Kiara Smith, Kendrick Smith, Mary Smith, April Smith, Shaquell Smith, Darrell Smith II, Ken Smith, Quin Sims, Martavious Durham; 12 great-grandchildren; six children she raised as her own Mr. and Mrs. Thomas (Shirley Ann) Jackson Jr., Mr. bobby Jackson, Ms. Sherry Jackson, Mr. Jerry Elder, Mr. and Mrs. Timmy (Mary) Elder, Mr. Reggie Elder; special friends Mr. Tim Atwater, Mr. Waver Elder, Mrs. Nellie Atkism, The Searcy and Carrier families, Mrs. Cora Sheats; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held March 24 at Fellowship Baptist Church, Social Circle, with the Rev. Clinton Sorrells officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
