Roy G. Satterfield

Roy G. Satterfield, 88, of Covington, died peacefully at home Aug. 6. The son of the late William and Martha Boggs Satterfield, he was born in Walton County. He had been a resident of Newton County for 80 years. Mr. Satterfield was a member of County Line Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in central Europe during World War II. He was a former employee of C & D Batteries and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting rabbit and squirrel. Mr. Satterfield was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Surviving are wife of 62 years Ruby S. Satterfield of Covington; daughter and son-in-law Brenda and Larry Roberts of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Roy G. (Joe) and Betty Satterfield of Blairsville; grandchildren Stephanie Dozier, Stephen Roberts, Joy Kummel, Justin Satterfield; great-grandchildren Charles Hill, Lance Hill, Andelin Hill, Kinsley Dozier, Corinne Hill, Payton Dozier, Jay C. Kummel; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Aug. 9 at County Line Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Clifton Brown officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
