The Piedmont Area Tennis Association (PATA) 14 and under beginner squad placed second Sunday during the state tournament in Macon.

Team members included David Arrue (12 years old), Lamar Dove (13), Hannah Howell (14), Logan Hull (10), Trey Hull (11), Reynolds Rogers (12) and Maya Tome (13).

The tournament, which began on July 25, hosted more than 100 teams throughout the state of Georgia, ranging in age divisions of 8 and under up to 18 and under.

Each division had three ability levels - beginner, intermediate and advanced.

The USTA Junior Team tennis format played five positions for each match. The five positions included boys singles, girls singles, boys doubles, girls doubles and mixed doubles.

PATA is comprised of local surrounding counties, including Newton, Rockdale, Walton, Henry and Morgan. It is starting another junior tennis league in September.

PATA will also have a junior doubles tournament this month and a junior singles tournament in November.
