Oxford tennis announces summer youth camp

The 2007 Oxford College Summer Tennis Camp for ages 4-17 will be held Monday on the campus starting at 9 a.m.

The camp is weekly and will last until June 29; however, participants may sign up by the day, as well. Half days are from 9 a.m. to noon, while full days (intermediate and advanced players only) range from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The cost is $50 for one daily full day or $30 for a half day. The weekly full day rate is $240, while the weekly half day cost is $125. (Lunch is not included in the full day price.)

In addition, each athlete will receive a camp T-shirt.

Brandon Feldman, Oxford head tennis coach and athletic director, will be the instructor, as well as several collegiate players.

The Eagles are the 2006 and 2007 NJCAA Division III Men's National Tennis Champions.

Registration forms may be picked up at the Williams Gymnasium at Oxford College.

Eastside to host camp

The 2007 Eastside Football Youth Camp will be held June 25-27 at Eastside High School from 10 a.m. to noon.

Led by Eastside head coach Rick Hurst, the camp is designed for any upcoming fourth-eighth graders interested in learning the fundamentals of football, including the offensive and defensive systems administered by the Eagles.

It is a non-contact camp without any special equipment, although cleats are optional. The cost is $40 if payment is received by June 1 and $45 after June 1. Each participant will also receive a T-shirt.

First-year Alcovy to host wrestling camp

Alcovy High School will be hosting its first wrestling camp this summer.

Directed by Alcovy head coach Mike Mostek, the camp will be held Monday through Friday, beginning at 9 a.m. to noon each day. During the final day of the camp, the wrestlers will be divided into two teams to compete in a dual meet.

The price of the camp is $50 per wrestler. If you have more than one child participating, the maximum cost is $75. Each wrestler will receive a camp T-shirt, as well.

Each participant will only wrestle students who are in the same weight class. The competitors will learn the basic techniques used in wrestling, among other skills.

The most important part of the camp is to allow the young wrestlers have fun while developing their motor skills through activities, games and individual competition.
