Ms. Page O'Neill and Mr. James O'Neill announce the engagement of their daughter Shane Marie of Covington to Britton Thomas Johnson, son of Mrs. Sam Johnson.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Burns and the late Mr. Michael O'Neill and the late Dr. and Mrs. Philip M. Tiller Jr. She is a graduate of Georgia College & State University.

The future groom is the grandson of Ida Mae Johnson, the late Preston Johnson Jr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Hayes. He is the great-grandson of the late Lois Norman. He is a graduate of Georgia College & State University and is employed as the youth minister of Lanier Christian Church, Gainesville.

The wedding is planned for Aug. 9 at First Presbyterian Church, Covington.
