A trip to the pioneering days of the old west, a love story and tons of music all rolled into a couple of hours at the theater - that's Oklahoma!

 In a production presented by The Arts Association in Newton County, Members of the Oxford Youth Singers and Singing Children will take to the audience the land where the wind sweeps down the plains during three performances on March 28, 29 and 30 at Porter Hall on the campus of Newton High School.

 The Oxford Youth Singers will perform the March 28, 7 p.m., and March 30, 3 p.m., performances while the Oxford Singing Children will perform on March 29 at 7 p.m.

 "We are so excited about this production," said Abigail Coggin, young artist program director for the Arts Association in Newston County. "This musical allows us to showcase the amazing talent of our local children and youth."

 Coggin said Oklahoma! Is a high spirited musical by Rogers and Hammerstine that features classic musical theater numbers such as "Oh What a Beautiful Morning," "People Will Say We're in Love," and "Oklahoma."

 Sponsors for the performance include Peoples Bank, Sylvan Learning Center, The Covington News and Your Traditional Neighborhood Specialist at Remax Agents Realty - Bill Blair, Pamela Bunn, Lou Anne Genardy and Lori Krieger.

 Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $8 for students/children. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Arts Association office at (770) 796-8188 or online at http://www.newtoncountyarts.org.
