COVINGTON - The Newton High soccer squads ended their regular season with a sweep over Morrow on Thursday at Homer Sharp Stadium.
In boys action, the Rams (7-8 overall, 3-4 Region 2-AAAAA) blanked the Mustangs, 2-0. Meanwhile, the Lady Rams (6-8, 4-3) won, 3-2, breaking a four-game losing streak.
For the boys, defensive keepers Alex Pace of Newton and Dennis Menjivar of Morrow managed to keep the game scoreless.
But that soon changed in the second half after Tim McGuinn scored two minutes in.
The Rams added another goal when Blake Braswell scored with 12:20 left to play.
In girls play, Tauntiana Kennedy struck first three minutes into the game to give the Lady Rams a 1-0 lead.
Three minutes later Shertekia Allen made it 2-0 with a goal of her own.
But the Lady Mustangs retaliated after Kelana Roseberry scored in the ninth minute, cutting the lead in half.
Newton's Damita Smith responded with a goal with 28:47 remaining in the half to make it 3-1 entering the break.
Within the opening minute of the second half, Roseberry sped past the Newton defense by scoring another goal.
The victory ended a four-game skid in which the Lady Rams were outscored 28-0. One of those losses came at the hands of crosstown rival Eastside last Monday, 10-0.
