Newton Recreation offers many youth activities

The Newton County Recreation Commission has released its schedule of day camp programs, which are all held at the beautiful Turner Lake Complex.

The daily activities will be during the week-long school holidays for ages 6-12. Each camp begins at 8 a.m. and lasts until 6 p.m.

The Christmas camp is the next program, which will be December 17-21. The mid-winter camp is February 18-22, while the spring break camp is April 7-11.

Each weekly camp costs $65 per child and is limited to the first 100 registered children.

YOUTH BASKETBALL

The last day to register for the 2008 youth basketball season was last Friday. Anyone not signed up by the deadline will be put on a waiting list.

The cost is $75 for the first child and $65 for each additional sibling from ages 7-18. The training league is $55 for the first child and $45 for each additional sibling from ages 4-6.

YOUTH TURKEY SHOOT

The Newton County Recreation Commission is hosting a turkey shoot from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. November 20 at the Turner Lake Complex.

There will be three different age groups, which includes 6-8, 9-10 and 11-12. Participants must register by November 1. There is a limit of 15 per age group, as well. The cost is $5 per child.

The winner of the game will receive a frozen turkey.
