Mrs. Nellie Steele Johnson, 100, died May 24. Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Johnny James and Ada Kitchens Steele and was the widow of Curtis Lee Johnson. She was a member of High Point Baptist Church, enjoyed cooking, gardening and loved her church and family. Mrs. Johnson is preceded in death by her daughter, June Rowland and grandson, Clarence Henderson Jr.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Frances Henderson of Covington, Diane and Walter Wren of Covington, Charles Rowland of Tucker; grandchildren, Clarice Dozier, David Henderson, Deborah Robertson, Mary Ann Darby, Linda Sessler, Michael Rowland, Rick Rowland, David Rowland, James Wren, Betty Harris, Billy Wren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Johnson of Covington; brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Dot Steele of Covington.

Funeral services of Mrs. Johnson will be held at 11 a.m. May 27 at High Point Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas McElhaney and the Rev. Justin Heins officiating with interment to follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at High Point Baptist Church 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on May 27. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to High Point Baptist Church Music Ministry.
