Mr. and Mrs. John W. Dunevent of Porterdale celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary May 17. A celebration of the event was held May 19 with their four children, four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and other family members.

John Dunevent and the former Clara Mask met in Porterdale in 1946 and were married in Conyers in the home of the Rev. Shackleford in 1947. Attendants were Evelyn Edge and Jerry Garrett.

Mr. Dunevent served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Both worked in the mills of Porterdale. He later retired from Dunevent's TV Repair Service, and Mrs. Dunevent retired from Covington Molding with 23 years of service. They have lived in the same house in Porterdale for the past 42 years.
