Mildred W. Holmes, 76, of Social Circle, died March 4 at Abbey Hospice. The daughter of the late William Franklin and Annie Barron Walker, she was born in Walton County and was a life-long resident of Social Circle and a member of First Baptist Church of Social Circle. Mrs. Holmes enjoyed yard work, house work and watching Atlanta Braves baseball. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by son David Eugene Holmes and brothers Henry Walker, J.W. Walker and Bobby Walker.

Surviving are husband of 60 years Jerry H. Holmes; children Rita and Clay Harris, Terry (Pete) and Emily Holmes, Karen (Candy) Holmes, all of Social Circle; grandchildren Beth DeLoach, Leslie DeMars, Jarred Harris, Rodney Holmes, Kevin Harris, Jeremy Holmes, Phillip Loyd, Justin Holmes, Corby Holmes; 10 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Kate Holmes of Newborn; daughter-in-law and husband Joanne and Gene Loyd of Oxford; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 6, in the Access Road chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. Doug Parham officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Access Road location of Caldwell & Cowan today, March 5, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
