Mildred Elizabeth Walker, 95, of Elizabethton, Tenn. went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Jan. 2. She was born on Jan. 26, 1912 in Rome to the late Thompson Lumpkin Smith Jr. and Carrie Evalena Terry Walker. Mrs. Walker retired from W.T. Grant where she worked for many years in sales. She enjoyed reading, gardening and crocheting. Mrs. Walker was a "people person." She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ira Taft Walker.

Mrs. Walker is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Ruth Walker of Elizabethton, Tenn. and Bill and Joann Walker of Milledgeville; daughters and sons-in-law, Ruby and Hiram Adamson of Grantville and Carol and Ralph Parris of Covington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Evellyn Smith of Snellville, Thompson L. Jr. and Jeannette Smith of Douglasville; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7 at Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Reese Sanders and Dean Walker officiating.

Interment will be Ramah Baptist Cemetery in Palmetto. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6 at Wheeler Funeral Home.
