Linda Penn Maughon, 58, of Covington died July 18 at Abbey Hospice, Social Circle. The daughter of the late Bennie Melvin and Mary Elizabeth Kirkus Penn, she was born in Newton County. Mrs. Maughon was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, watching TV, going out to eat and traveling. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family. Mrs. Maughon was preceded in death by husband Larry Maughon.

Surviving are stepchildren Tiffany and Tony Rutledge of Newborn, Michael and Rhonda Maughon of Covington, Roger Maughon of Covington; stepgrandchildren Kayla Marie Maughon, Jamie Lee Rutledge, Lacy Nicole Rutledge, Taylor Marie Rutledge and Dalton Lee Rutledge; sisters and brother-in-law Iris Penn Allen, Marsha Penn and Robbie Johnson; nephews James Allen and Dale Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan with the Rev. Jayme Kindle and the Rev. Ralph Johnson officiating. Interment will followed at Lawnwood Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, July 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
