Leslie Scott Hix, 47, of Monticello, died Oct. 11 after an extended illness. Mr. Hix was born in Newton County where he was raised and lived until moving to Jasper County four years ago.

He worked as a manufacturing technician for International Printing Technologies until the early 2000s and later was self-employed as an electrician. He was an artist and accomplished in playing the guitar.

Surviving are mother Barbra Hix of Monticello; father and step-mother Leslie Alvin and Anna Alice Hix of Snellville; brothers David Alan Hix of Monticello and Jonathan Andrew Hix Sr. of Covington; sister Anna Leslie Hix of Snellville; nephew Jonathan Andrew Hix Jr. of Shady Dale.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, in the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home, Monticello with Danny Ewing officiating. Interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park Cemetery, Covington. Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Ewing, A.B. Senn, Kevin Reeves, Clark Whitsitt, Johnny Stowe and Andy Barnes.

The family will receive friends today, Oct. 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home
