Jimmy Lee "Cap" Smith

Mr. Jimmy Lee "Cap" Smith died July 18. The son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Willie B (Clara J.) Smith, he was born in 1947 in Newborn. His hobbies included drag racing (He won several first place trophies during the 1970s.), fishing and walking the dog. He lived by "He lives day by day," and "Each day to the fullest." Mr. Smith was preceded in death by brother Mr. Clarence Robert Smith and sister Ms. Gracie Mae Smith.

Surviving are daughters Ms. Connie Smith and Ms. Jackqueline Smith; brothers Mr. Willie Frank Smith, Mr. Henry Nelson Smith, Mr. Tommy Lee Smith; sisters Ms. Sadie Smith, Mrs. Emma Jean Williams, Mrs. Lucille Avery, Ms. Betty Turk; grandchild Damarcus Wyche; aunts Mr. and Mrs. Gee Gee (Magnolia) Bailey, Ms. Ester Bell Mitchell, Ms. Mildred Smith; uncles Mr. Bo Wilborn, Mr. B. W. Quarteman; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friends.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 24 at Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, Newborn, with the Rev. Charlie Stanford officiating. Interment followed at Springfield Memorial Gardens, Newborn.
