Mrs. Jimmie Frances Savage Shields, 72, of Covington, died at her home May 26 surrounded by her family. The daughter of the late James Robert and Elizabeth Wiley Savage, she was born in Newton County in 1935. Mrs. Shields was a dmember of Calvary Baptist church, Covington, and a volunteer at the Solid Rock Baptist Church Food Banks. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved gardening and reading.
Surviving are husband of 52 years Mr. Garland (Coolidge) Shields; daughters Amy Roll of Gaston, S.C., Sharon Temples of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law pat and Jim Weatherly of Sugar Hill, Justine and Jeff Wahuas of Buford, Sidney and Mark Lang of Otsego, Minn.; sister Mrs. Mary Newsome of Covington; brother Mr. Bobby Savage, of Covington; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 29, at the funeral home from noon to 1 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Roy Kiser and the Rev. Alan Thompson officiating.
