Mrs. Janet Elizabeth Yancey Wheeler, 72, a lifelong resident of Newton County, died July 10. The daughter of the late Bryant and Lola Yancey she was born May 14, 1936 in Covington. She was retired from the Newton County Sheriff's office where she worked in security. Mrs. Wheeler was a member of County Line Baptist Church.
Surviving are husband, John I. Wheeler of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Lisa Wheeler of Covington; son John A. Wheeler of Melburn, Fla.; daughter Dr. Jan E. Lubas of Jefferson City, Tenn.; sisters Joyce Anderson and Jean Jenkins, both of Covington, Glenda Cofer and Margarett Parker, both of McDonough; brother Neil Yancey of Covington; grandchildren Keri and Brandi Wheeler, Mark Allen, Alyssa and Ansley Floyd; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Mrs. Wheeler will be at 3 p.m. today at County Line Baptist Church with the Rev. J. Clifton Brown officiating. Interment will be in County Line Baptist Cemetery.
