Iris Bennett Cheshire

Mrs. Iris Bennett Cheshire, 84, of Jackson died Feb. 9 in Macon. The daughter of the late Edwin Albert and Pearl Leggett Bennett, she was born in 1923 in Jacksonville, Fla. She was preceded in death by husband Melvin Stanley Cheshire and sisters Lois Waters and Myrtle Austin and brothers Roland Bennett and Ed Bennett. Mrs. Bennett was a member of the First Baptist Church of High Falls. She was retired from the Southern Regional Hospital as a secretary in the nursing service.

Surviving are sons and daughters-in-law Ronald Cheshire and Marilyn of Jackson, Don Cheshire and Jackie of Oxford; sisters Reba North, Clara Grimsley, both of Jacksonville, Caroline Reinhart of Arizona; grandson Donald Cheshire; granddaughter Ann Cheshire, both of Greenville, S.C.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Feb. 15 at the First Baptist Church at High Falls with the Rev. Jeff Giddens officiating. Entombment will be at Arlington Park Cemetery, Jacksonville. Friends may visit the family at the church one hour prior to the service.
