Halloween means anyone and everyone can dress up like ghosts and goblins, stuff their faces with sugary treats and scare the neighbor children by popping out of the bushes when they come to ring the doorbell.

A range of family-friendly and adults-only activities are scheduled around the county all day and night for All Hallow's Eve.

Costume Parade:

Students of First Presbyterian Church of Covington's Early Learning Center will march around the church building starting at 11:30 a.m. on the Brown Street side for their annual costume parade.

"Halloween Night Out" special trick-or-treating experience from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Merchants of Newton Plaza:

Trick or Treating Safety Expo 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at U.S. Highway 278 and Pace Street. Sponsored by Halpern Enterprises, D.A.R.E., Newton County Sheriff's Office, AM 1430 WGFS Covington, Covington Police Department, Newton Medical Emergency Medical Services and The Covington News.

Colonel Cob's Corn Maze: Patrons can find their way through 2.5 miles of maze in a six-acre cornfield from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visit www.colcobscornmaze.com to download a $1 off maze coupon. Also featuring a hayride and bonfire. 797 Macedonia Church Road in Oxford.

Lost County Haunted House: Take a frightening tour of a haunted house and maze from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at 552 Ga. Highway 212, Covington. Entry fee is $10. Proceeds benefit charitable projects of Pace Masonic Lodge 558.

Haunted Garden: Indian Creek Nursery will host nighttime tours of their Haunted Garden from dark until 10 p.m. 2691 Newborn Road, Mansfield.

It's 5 o'clock Somewhere: The winner of the costume contest will receive a $100 cash prize.
