Three Eastside High School baseball players who were selected to the 2007 Conyers American Legion Post 77 squad - Quint Hinton, Travis Long and Ryan Rhodes - have helped their team to an overall 7-3 record.

Post 77 won its initial five games, in which all three former Eagles contributed offensively and defensively. During the season opener sweep (May 31) - a doubleheader against Jonesboro Post 258 - they combined to go 9-for-16 with four runs scored and two walks, winning 6-0 and 12-2.

Long was particularly impressive during the sweep, as he anchored the team behind the plate as the catcher. In fact, he was involved in two critical defensive gems against Post 258. The first involved Long holding his ground and applying the tag to get the out at home, while the second play included him firing a strike to second base to pick-off a base runner.

All three players are members of The Covington News 2007 All-County Team.

Post 77 will play again Thursday against Vienna Post 202 at 7:30 p.m. at Douglasville Hunter Park.
