Ernestine "Tine" Cobb

Ms. Ernestine "Tine" Cobb died July 8. The daughter of the late Bobbie Lou Cobb and Olin Tredwell, she was born in Newton County in 1935. Ms. Cobb attended Washington Street School. She was a member of Murray C.M.E. church and later transferred her membership to Union Grove United Methodist church. Known for her culinary skills, Ms. Cobb followed the legacy of her mother, opening her arms to whomever she met. She never hesitated to offer food to the hungry and comfort to the distressed. Ms. Cobb had a lovely smile, a gracious heart and an abundance of love. She was preceded in death by sister Betty "Height" Smith.

Surviving are children Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lewis (Teresa) Cobb, Ms. Janice Cobb, Mr. Eddie Roy Cobb, Ms. Brenda Cobb; grandchildren Mr. and Mrs. Markus (Charita) Cobb, Mr. and Mrs. Reginald (Sherica) Benton, Ms. Tameeka Marks, Ms. Daronna Cobb, Mr. Demetrius Cobb, Mr. and Mrs. Rodrick Cobb, Ms. Brittany Cobb; 11 great-grandchildren; brother Mr. Robert Lee Cobb; sister Mrs. Barbara Cobb Brock; adopted sister Mr. and Mrs. Augustus (Mary Alice) Henderson; aunt Mrs. Rose Lee Cobb of New York; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. July 12 at Union Grove United Methodist church with the Rev. Kenneth Norrington officiating. Interment followed at Oxford Historical Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Ms. Patricia (Trick) Morris, C.N.A., for her assistance during Ms. Cobb's illness.
