WRESTLING

The Eastside High wrestling program has announced the upcoming 2008 summer league, which will be at 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays beginning May 29 at Eastside High School. (The dates range from May 29, June 5, 12, 19, 26 and July 10, 17, 31.)

These dates are an opportunity for teams, including Eastside, Alcovy and Newton, to get together one day a week and perform as many matches as possible with different opponents. A wrestler can have anywhere from five to 10 matches in one session.

There will be no referees at these matches. Coaches and wrestlers will be the officials. In addition, coaches are asked to bring as many stop watches as possible to these events.

Other teams include Jackson, Rockdale County, Loganville, Henry County, Salem, Madison County, Flowery Branch, ELCA, East Jackson, N. Oconee, Oconee, Marist and Sonoraville.

The cost is free. Teams may bring two kids or 40, it does not matter, and can sign up for one of the dates or all of them.
