Dorothy "Dot" Ann Newton

Mrs. Dorothy "Dot" Ann Newton, 84, of Covington, died Feb. 2. She was born March 24, 1923 and was the daughter of the late John William and Lula Mae McNabb Cagle, from Atlanta. Mrs. Newton was of the Methodist faith and formerly lived in Forest Park before moving to Covington 18 years ago.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marshall Earl Newton. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Don and Billie Newton, Jackson; daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Larry Driver, Covington; sisters, Mrs. Louise Ivey, Harpeville, Mrs. Thelma McMillian, Fayetteville; grandchildren, Kerri Sanders, McDonough, Ryan Newton, Stockbridge, Jason "Jay" Newton, McDonough; great granddaughter, Lauren Sanders, McDonough; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Feb. 4 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Van Wrinle officiating. Interment will follow at Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home today, Feb. 3 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
