Darlena Freeman Jackson

Ms. Darlena Freeman Jackson died Dec. 8. The daughter of the late Otis and Alberta Freeman, she was born in 1948 in Covington. She graduated from R.L. Cousins High School and 1966 and moved to Atlanta where she began her career at Retail Credit, later known as Equifax. At the time of her death she was employed by Newton County School System. She joined BethaBara Baptist Church at an early age and later moved her membership to Salem Bible Church where she was a faithful member. Ms. Jackson was a warm, friendly and caring person with a great sense of humor. Everyone who knew her developed a special kinship with her. She had an immense love for her family, especially her daughter and siblings. Ms. Jackson was preceded in death by brothers Mr. Willie Ray and Mr. Milton Freeman.

Surviving are daughter Ms. Kelsye C. Jackson of Covington; sisters Ms. Barbara Freeman and Ms. Kathy Freeman, both of Covington; aunts Ms. Carrie Freeman, Mrs. Emma Lizzie Freeman of Covington, Mrs. Ella Ruth Freeman of Atlanta; uncle Mr. William Johnson of Sparta; niece Latease Maddox of Covington; a host of cousins and dear friends.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at BethaBara Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Jones and Pastor William H. Gaither officiating. Interment followed at the church cemetery.
