Crusaders to hold press conference in Conyers

The Georgia Crusaders, Atlanta's other professional football team, is holding an important press conference at 11 a.m. on Monday at the Holiday Inn in Conyers.

The purpose of the announcement is to disclose details of a new radio deal and its 2007 schedule.

With the new deal, the Crusaders will reach a potential audience of over five million listeners during their live broadcast and simulcast of their games on Saturday nights.

BASKETBALL

Eastside Girls Camp begins Monday at EHS

The 2007 Eastside Girls Basketball Camp begins Monday, and will last until Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Eastside High School gymnasium.

Led by Eastside girls varsity head coach Jason Grooms and first-year assistant coach Mathew Jackson, the camp combines their basketball coaching experience with former and current players to help assist with the camp.

The clinic will focus on teaching basic fundamentals with a heavy emphasis on ball handling and shooting. A wide variety of games and drills will be used to make the learning environment fun and exciting for everyone.

In addition, each camp attendee will receive a T-shirt.

The cost is $60 per camper. Registration forms may be picked up at Eastside High School. Payment and registration can be made on the first day of camp.

GOLF

2007 Oaks Open begins July 14 at Oaks Golf Course

The 2007 Oaks Open will be held July 14-15 at the beautiful Oaks Golf Course.

The tournament is individual stroke play (36 holes), flighted by handicap. (The number of flights is determined by the number of players.)

Each player must have a USGA handicap. There will be an open flight and a minimum of two net flights. (Net and gross winners must be within each of the net flights.)

The entry deadline is July 7. (Only paid entry forms will be accepted.)

The tournament cost is $175 per person, which includes one practice round, two tournament rounds (cart fee not included), range balls (tournament days only), prizes, golf shoes and tee gifts, breakfast, lunch (Saturday), Calcutta, a shoot out and a skins game (additional cost).

The Oaks Course is listed as one of Georgia's Top 100 must-play courses, and is in great condition for this very special occasion.
